The eTRIP initiative is a collaborative effort among state and local agencies, creating a seamless and integrated system through which traffic-related information travels from its point of origin to its end use and analysis. The purpose is to eliminate the excessive inefficiencies associated with the previous paper-based processes of collecting and exchanging tickets, collisions, and adjudication information.
eTRIP has created an automated system that will enable law enforcement agencies (LEA’s) to electronically create tickets and collision reports in the field (through SECTOR). Then a statewide data exchange network allow this data to be transmitted electronically to authorized agency systems. Agencies receiving this information electronically include Courts, Department of Licencing, Department of Transportation, and local police and sheriffs’ records management systems.
